Her family was Catholic and she was raised on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. In order to avoid this, her parents enrolled at the Convent of the Sacred Heart an eminent and religious institution. Her love of music began as a small toddler. She taught herself how to play a keyboard, and, at age thirteen, wrote her first song. She was a participant at open mics. Her most favored artists were David Bowie, Madonna and Queen Michael Jackson. She studied music in the Tisch School of Art of New York University after completing her secondary schooling.
